I knew it would happen sooner or later...

...she finally talked herself to sleep!Moments before I took this picture, I was answering questions like "Mama, how does God make it rain?" or "Mama, why can't I fly like a bird?" or "Mama, when is rest time over so I can get up?" Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk... I thought it would never end!

She was quiet for two seconds. I looked over at her and she was out. She really talked herself to sleep!

Another pair off the needles

Here's Mara's new socks.Just a plain 3/1 rib pattern, but I did them two-at-a-time with the magic loop method...no second sock syndrome. I know, that doesn't mean a lot to most of you, but trust me it's exciting!

Wordless Wednesday #28

Mara: Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama...

Me: Yes, baby girl?

Mara: Cock-a-doodle-doo!

I turned to see this.....That would be a Valentine's Day balloon turned upside down on her head.

I know, it's not so 'wordless'! Go here for more Wordless Wednesday.

Ok, I admit it...we love High School Musical!

Becca has a new favorite syllable lately. She's constantly saying "bop, bop, bop, bop."

The other day Mara said, "Mom, Becca's singing High School Musical! Bop, bop, bop, bop to the top...."

I don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed that we've watched/listened to High School Musical enough that Mara thinks the baby is even singing one of the songs!

Monkey Toes

I finished my Monkey socks! This is the first time that I have absolutely fallen in love with a pattern. I'm so proud that they're done, but sad to see them done at the same time.

Oh well, on to the next adventure....
I've cast on some Jaywalkers and Nutkin because you can't have just one project going at a time!

Big Truths for Little Kids works for me.

I wrote about this here just the other day, but I thought I'd post about it here too.

We've just started using a fabulous new book at our house. It's called 'Big Truths for Little Kids' by Susan and Richie Hunt.

I love the idea of a methodized (catechism) way of teaching my children about our beliefs, but don't want it to be something that they just memorize and spit back by rote.

I want my girls to have a Christian worldview...to know that the way we live is because of how we believe.

This book teaches catechism questions (Who made you? God. What else did God make? God made all things. Why did God make you and all things? For His glory. etc....), but then has a practical story related to the questions. It really does a great job of translating the learning of facts to a worldview.

The target age for this book is probably 4-7, but Emily (2) loves it and I really think it could be used effectively up to like 9 or 10 as well.

And it is also TOO cute to hear Becca (17 months old) say "Ga" when you ask her "Who made you?".

Better late than never.

I just realized that I never blogged about our Valentine's craft. Well, like the title says...better late than never.

I took all of our broken crayons and cut them up in little pieces. Then the girls put the pieces in a silicon chocolate mold. Three minutes in the oven and about twenty minutes to cool....and voila, heart-shaped crayons!

Logic...sort of

We went to Chik-fil-a the other day for breakfast....

Emily: Can we go play?
Me: No, we're just going through the drive-thru.
Emily: But the door's not big enough.
Me: What?
Emily: The van's too big?
Me: What?
Emily: We can't drive through Chik-fil-a, the van's too big to fit through the door.

Her two-year-old logic makes perfect sense to me!

Daddy's Stinky!

Another post about the baby cows down the street.....

This afternoon the babies were right up close to the fence for us to "awww" over.

Me: Emmy, look at the sweet baby cows.
Emily: Awwww, they're cute.......and stinky!
Me: Yep, they stink.
Emily: Just like Daddy!
Me: (laughing)

Honey, I guess I need to get you some cologne or some new deodorant for Valentine's Day!

Upon further questioning, I discovered that Emily was talking about the baby cow's daddy that was stinky...but I got a good laugh anyway!

Living up to the name.

The Three-Girl circus went to the circus!
The girls were almost as mesmerized as I was. I still can't believe all of the action. There was always something happening and multiple things happening at the same time.
Clowns, tigers, elephants, horses, dogs, trapeze, etc.....all action, all the time. Can you tell I'm still amazed at it?
It got me thinking about the name of my blog. Yep, it is definitely named correctly. There is always something happening at our house and multiple things happening at the same time.

Here is a short video of my 'circus'. Becca is starting to mimic everything we ask her to say and it's adorable. I was getting a video of her 'talking', and well, I'll let you see the rest of the action for yourself.

Hide-N-Seek.....I don't think they get it.

Mara: I found you!
Emily: *giggle, giggle, giggle*
Mara: Now you go count and I'll hide right here.
Emily: Ok!

Ever thought about how complicated a game Hide-N-Seek is? It's not too complicated until you try to explain it to a 4 year-old and a 2 year-old!

Mom, can we keep him?

The baby cows down the street were born last week, so we love seeing them everytime we drive by.

Mara's voice goes up at least two octaves when she says, "Oh Momma, look at the babies. They're so CUUUUUUTE"

Mara: Momma, can we get a baby cow?
Me: No, baby, our house isn't big enough for a baby cow.
Mara: But we can keep him in the yard.
Me: No, we'd better not. Cows stink.
Mara: But Becca stinks when she's poopy.

Hmmmm, I'd better think of some more excuses.

Works for me Wednesday: Online Shopping Edition

I LOVE to shop online. In fact, if I could do my weekly grocery shopping online, I'd probably never have to actually go shopping. Here are just a few of my favorites.

First of all, I love the bargains website Want Not. Mir posts all kinds of fabulous deals several times a day. I usually cave when there's a great toy deal, then I put it up in our 'toy closet'. When we're invited to birthday parties, I just get a toy from the toy closet. And I also go to it for the girls' birthdays and Christmas.

Then of course there's Ebay. Everybody knows about ebay, but this is where I get all of the girls' clothes. I love Hanna Andersson and Gymboree, but can't afford either of their brand new prices. I have bought an outfit on ebay for $20... all three girls have worn it. Then I've turned around and sold it three years later on ebay for $25. Can't beat that.

And finally, if you're looking for a few hours to kill, you've got to check out Etsy. Anyone can go to etsy and open a shop, but everything you sell must be handmade. Most of the shops are moms just like me selling really cute things. And yes, I do have a shop but it's totally empty...it's on my never ending to do list.

Now I'm going to go check out Rocks in my Dryer to see where everyone else likes to shop online. Honey, I won't spend ALL of your money today!

One Proud CRAZY Momma!

I am SO proud of Mara Lin for listening, following directions, and having a great day at preschool today.

I'm so excited that she got to pick a prize out of Miss Brandi's prize box.

And I am even more excited that she choose a kazoo for that prize.

Let me tell you how tickled to death I am that I've only gotten to hear B-I-N-G-O played on said kazoo eighty-two times in the last ten minutes.

Yep, I am one proud CRAZY Momma! Oh, and Mara might have to go to the ER tonight for ingesting a kazoo.

Not suitable for children.

This rating was determined based on the presence of the following words:
  • hurt (3x)
  • drugs (2x)
  • stab (1x)
This cracks me up! Apparently I'm rated PG, so don't let your kids read my blog with out guidance. I'll blame it on all of the booger talk.

What's your blog rated?

Mara and Caiden sittin' in a tree...

Me: Wow whee Mara, you look pretty.
Mara: I'm getting married.
Me: You are? Who are you going to marry?
Mara: Well.....I'm going to marry a boy, but Daddy's too tall because I won't be able to reach him to kiss....you have to kiss when you get married.
Me: Oh really. So who are you going to marry?
Mara: Caiden.

I love her 'you have to kiss' logic, and couldn't pick better in-laws for her!

Welcome Google Searchers **Updated**

*Update*
To see what search engine searches bring people to your site you can use several things. Sitemeter will tell you only the clicks under the referral tab. Google Analytics is pretty good too, but my favorite is the Google Webmaster tools. Oh, and all of these tools are free.

Here are just a few crazy google searches that brought people to the Three-Girl Circus....

"girl with worms in mouth"
Hmmmm, I think I've had a few boogers in the mouth but not sure about worms.

"happy birthday happy birthday baby oh i love you so"
I do believe that that is the longest Google search I've ever seen.

"inside of nose hurts"
I think I talk about nose picking and boogers too much.

"what do circus animals eat"
Ha, I'm not sure, but my animals like pizza, hot dogs, spaghetti, pb&j, etc.

"phil scar"
Phillip will get a kick out of this one...remember his revolutionary no scar surgery technique?

"girl picking nose"
Yep, I do talk about nose picking and boogers too much!

Mmmmm, mac n cheese for dinner?

Emily: Look Momma! (holding finger up)
Me: What is it Sissy?
Emily: A booger!
Me: Ewww, Sissy, don't pick your nose...get a kleenex.
Emily: Look Momma...(holding finger up)...it looks like mac n cheese!

Speechless.

Who wants to win? **UPDATED**

**UPDATE**
I went to random.org and generated a random integer between 1 and 378. The winner is......comment #118. I can't believe it, Traci you won! Not only a real life friend, but a real life friend who owns a whole bunch of boring socks! Here's what your new socks look like now though......you might have to wear your boring socks for a couple more weeks!

Whoo Hoo! It's time for a giveaway!

I had so much fun doing it last time, and check out the adorable wee one who won the hat that I knit.

So I've got something special this time. I was just talking last week about my new addiction of knitting socks. I mentioned how amazing hand knit socks feel. Several mentioned that they didn't know how hand knit socks felt cause they'd never had a pair. WELL.....

Now's your chance to win you very own pair of hand knit socks. It might take a couple of weeks to get them to the winner though cause this is what they look like right now....

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post. You'll be entered to win the socks that currently do not exist. I'll draw a number for the winner on Friday, February 1st (Is it really February on Friday? Wow, where has my January gone?).

And go check out all of the other giveaways happening this week at Shannon's. Good Luck!
