There are several billboards around lately advertising a Cinco de Mayo festival for April 30th through May 4th.
Yep, you read that correctly... the CINCO de Mayo festival is over on QUATRO de Mayo. That just makes me laugh.

...since I've had a booger post.
Emily told me the other night in the van while holding her finger up, "Mama, here's a booger."
"Ok, here's a kleenex. Next time you have a booger Sissy, get a kleenex first and blow your nose instead of picking it."
"Uh oh, I lost it......it's ok, (with her finger up her nose) I'll get another one."

Check out these ADORABLE baby booties! If you can look at these and not say "Awww", then your awwwwer is broken! They were a really quick knit and the pattern is free. They're made with left over sock yarn.
When I was knitting them, the following conversation took place.
Emily: Wha' cha makin', Mama?
Me: Some baby booties.
Emily: (with HUGE eyes) .....are they real booties, Mama?
Me: Yes.....(realizing why her eyes were so big...we call our back-ends booties...so she thought I was making some baby back-ends!) Ummmm, no....they're baby slippers!

Well, I had a whirlwind of a weekend.
My grandmother is sick, and I found a really cheap plane ticket Saturday night. So I took an unexpected last minute trip to Iowa this weekend. It was so good to see my grandma, even though it was in the hospital.
Phillip did SO good with the girls. They had a weekend of ill-fitting clothes and really messy hair, but they also had lots of fun.
Fun and some drama too.... They dropped me off at the airport Saturday evening and stopped at McDonald's for supper on the way home. As Phillip was carrying the food to the table, Emily puked all over the table. He got her all cleaned up just in time for Mara to spill her chocolate milk all in her lap. I think that would have been enough to send me over the edge, but my easy-going husband was not phased.
He did so good, and I'm so very thankful that my girls have such an awesome Daddy! It was good to be missed and is even better to be home. Now to tackle the mess of my house.....

So if I were a shoe, evidently I would be a cowboy boot? What?!?
Well, when I read the description...ya, I can see how I'm cowboy boots. Especially the "You are straight shooting and honest. You tell people how it is." That gets me into trouble a lot.
I also love the "You should work: In a job that allows you to take charge." Ok, I admit it....I do like to be in charge. My friends are appalled at that (ha, ha, ha)! Well, I think I'm in charge of the circus on most days, but the girls would argue with that on some days!
Any other cowboy boots out there?
You Are Cowboy Boots |
![]() This doesn't mean you're country, just funky. You've got a ton of attitude and confidence. You're unique, expressive, and even a little bit wacky. You wear whatever you feel like and you have your own sense of style. You are straight shooting and honest. You tell people how it is. Low maintenance and free wheeling, you're always up for an adventure. You should live: Where you can at least get to wide open spaces You should work: In a job that allows you to take charge |

"Once upon a time there was a man named Goliath.""Now Goliath and the Phillistines didn't like Israel because they didn't like what the shepards said."
"They were fighting...then Junior came and knocked down Goliath and he didn't get up again."
" Israel won the Resurrection Day!"

Emily Elizabeth,
Three years ago, you came into our lives......screaming...
...your...
...head off!
Those first six months, I thought you'd never stop screaming. You must have slept some though cause there is photographic evidence. This is mostly how I remember you those first several months though. Even all scrunched up that face was too cute.
You did eventually smile too.
And oh, those fat rolls....I miss them so much!
You and your big sister have always been inseparable. Oh the trouble you two can make!
And your little sister mimics everything you do. She already looks up to you so much.
I love you so much Emily Elizabeth, even though we knock heads everyday. Guess you get that stubbornness honestly.
And you never do anything half way. Everything you do, you do with all of your heart...including throwing some really good fits!
My favorite thing about you is your huge personality. Yes, you can still scream and throw some big fits, but that laugh is the best. It's easy to make you mad, but just as easy to make you bust out the belly laugh.
You teach me so much about myself, both good and bad. I absolutely can not believe that you're already three but at the same time can hardly remember our family with out you.
I love you, little turd!
Love,
Mom

I'm only...what?....two weeks late in posting these pictures, but I just had to go ahead and get them up here...late or not!
This is the Easter egg hunt at Nana and Poppa's after church. Emily didn't care much about her basket, the challenge was how many could she carry and still pick more up.Mara Lin loved the princess stuff in her basket.
Becca Sue found the Miss Pattycake DVD and didn't care about anything else. I don't think she picked up a single egg after finding it. She just carried it around saying "Paaeeee". Translation: Patty(cake) which happens to be the same word for paci and sounds very similar to Daddy.
