Finger Knitting

I remember my grandma teaching me to knit with my fingers but had forgotten about it until I saw this. Then I did more research and found this. I think Mara and I have a new project for this week!

Edited to add: The pictures in this post are from the links that appear right above them. No, I didn't get a new tattoo, although that one looks really neat. I know that pain and never again, never again!

We have a vermin problem.

I made some banana bread the other morning and left it on the counter to cool while I went to shower.

The girls were watching TV.

This is what I found ten minutes later....
That would be the entire perimeter of the banana bread missing. I'd better go call an exterminator.

Oh and when I asked the girls about it, Mara was really quick to throw her sister under the bus with, "Sissy did it."

Happy Birthday, Little Stinker!

Can. not. believe. that my baby is two years old!

For the sappy birthday wish, go here and read last year's.

No sap today cause I've got a 'terrible two' on my hands. How could one little girl go from being SO easy going to SO stubborn in just one year?!? Guess she's getting more and more like me!

Becca's always the last to wake up in the morning, so this morning we heard her talking. Mara, Emily and I all went up stairs...opened her door...and started singing, "Happy Birthday to...."

That's about as far as we got when we were met with, "STOOOOOOP."

Ok, so maybe it was just too loud for 8am. So I said (very quietly and sweetly) "Happy Birthday baby girl. How old are you today?"

This time I got a "NOOOOO".

I've not been able to get through the entire birthday song yet today with out a "STOP." Hmmm, maybe I just sing that terribly!

I think the real reason is that I have a terrible two on my hands with opinions and ideas of her own. Not at all like her mommy, huh?

She did cheer up some when we went to get donuts this morning...just the two of us!

I love you so much Becca Boo! You still make me a better Mommy everyday, and I can't wait to see what God has planned for you
. Happy Birthday, Little Stinker!
Love, Mommy

When in doubt...blog about knitting.

Finished another pair of socks....
Pattern: Monkeymen
Yarn: Wollmeise 100% merino in Zenzi

It's basically Cookie A's Monkey pattern with M1s instead of YOs. Oh, and do you have a couple hours for me to tell you how much I love this yarn?

Dear Anonymous Commenter,

First of all, I deleted your comment because if you are too ashamed to add your name to your words then I don't really want to hear your words.

Secondly, since you've obviously never dealt with infertility, I invite you to read this post from Rocks In My Dryer yesterday. It perfectly describes what those of us dealing with infertility are feeling. She also gives advice on what to say and do for people who are experiencing infertility.

I'd like to add a don't to her list....don't leave anonymous comments on their blog suggesting that maybe they should just relax and let God have control.

Sincerely,
An Infertile Who Forgives You

I got nothin'.

Nothin' at all.

I know I've been MIA from my blog this week but I've really got nothing.

It's that 'I' word again....still sucks and I'm struggling. I'm trying desperately to hold on to Philippians 4:6, but I'm struggling.

First Day of School

I'm late posting these (since the first day of school was almost two weeks ago), but better late than never.... right?!?
I think they're pretty proud of their new lunch boxes too.
And oh yes and the dork who wrote 9-01-08 on the sign really meant 9-02-08, but hey what's the difference!

Take me out to the ballgame....

Mara and Emily started baseball last Saturday. Mara loved it, and Emily...well, not so much. Here's Mara with her 'boyfriend' (she really calls him that) Caiden.
And I love this look on her face.
Oh yes, and this look on Em's face too. They just look like they're contemplating life.
Here's the only action shot you'll see of Emily cause she threw her hat and glove down and quit just a few minutes after this picture was taken. Not like she was actually looking at the ball being thrown at her though!
Here's Mara running the bases with the coach.
And her first time hitting a ball off of a tee.Run Mara, Run!And we HAVE to call DeeDee and Grand afterwards to tell them all about baseball.Yep, still giving them a play by play.Hopefully Emily will play more this coming Saturday. She did ok last week until she realized that people were looking at her, and then I kind of forced the issue and made her stay out there. (Imagine that, Emily and I butting heads!) It was all downhill from there. I'm just going to leave her be this week and let her warm up to it if she wants...and if not, then that's ok too. Anyway, could they be any cuter in their little uniforms?!?
