Barney saves the day.

Dear Husband,
I just wanted to let you know that I was just now quietly contemplating my escape route from this mad house when a fat purple dinosaur saved you from having to find a new maid/nurse/cook/mommy for your family.
You can send your thanks here.
Sincerely,

Carrie

All I have to say is.....

Bless her heart!

Four Ten Hour Days Work for Me

Phillip just started working four ten hour days last week. We LOVE it! It's a little more challenging in the evenings to keep the girls occupied until Daddy gets home (and that's complicated by the fact that we got rid of Emily's pacifier last week too and she hasn't napped since!), but Fridays are so worth it.

Since we both 'work' on Sundays at church, Saturday has been our only day off. Our to do list is a mile long so there's very little time for just fun stuff as a whole family. Last Friday we 'slept in' (that means Mara got up at 6:45 as opposed to 6:30), ate Dunkin Donuts for breakfast, and went to the water park. We had a very relaxing super fun day.

Phillip seems to like the longer days at work too because he's been so productive. He said just the other night that the days seem to go faster because he's not watching the clock anymore.

So working four ten hour days 'Works For Me.'

This is my first time to participate in Works For Me Wednesday over at Rocks In My Dryer. There are tons of great tips over there so go check it out. Be warned though...it'll eat at least an hour!

What?

Bullet proof backpacks? Backpacks that are bullet proof? Backpacks. Bullet proof. What?!?

I'm not sure what is more shocking.... the fact that some parents are shelling out $175 for a backpack, or the fact that some parents feel like their children need bullet proofing in their backpack.

The MJ Solutions Web site says that there have been 328 school shootings since 1999 with 229 dead and 422 injured. Now that's what is shocking!

What can you do.....

...outside when it's 110 degrees?

1. It's never too hot for mud pies! Just add water. Stir with a stick. Then it's ready for splashing fun.
2. Try to figure out what your sisters are doing outside when it's 110 degrees.
3. Thirsty? Plenty of water here.
4.Give your hands....
....and face a mud treatment.
What? Do I have something on my face?

5. Help your sister clean the mud off of her face.

6. Share the hose with your sister.
7. Pout when you realize you just shared the hose with your sister.
8. Munch on crackers while you watch your sisters fight it out.

9. And if your booty gets a little warm....no problem!Carrie

I know it's an ebay auction, but you've got to read this!

I don't believe that I've ever laughed so hard reading an ebay auction. Go read this. No really, go now. Oh wait...you'd better go potty first!

This is SO cute!

Wordless Wednesday #11

I pulled out an old one for today....this is Mara Lin. I can't believe this sweet girl is almost 4 years old. How can the days go so slow but the years go so fast?

So hot but so fun!

It's county fair time!

We spent about three hours in triple digit weather and loved every minute of it. We ate corndogs and funnel cakes, got lots of free pencils, fans, and balloons, and rode every last ride that the girls wanted to ride.

Here's a few pictures....

Mara and Emily both agreed that their favorite ride was the "big merry go round" aka the ferris wheel. So much fun, and my feet are still hurting twenty-four hours later!

Thumbs up.

Phillip and I watched High School Musical 2 last night. I'm kind of embarrassed, but I have to say that I LOVED it! West Side Story meets Sound of Music. It was clean, fun, clean, entertaining, clean, oh and did I mention it was clean! I guess I expected it to have some suggestive dance moves and such, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The girls even watched some of it today and liked it as well. Of course they had to get into the dancing action. Becca even got some booty shaking done!

It's got me thinking though....
I think it's our responsibility as Christian parents to know what's out there in pop culture like High School Musical, Hanna Montana, Avril Lavigne, Cheetah Girls, Natasha Bedingfield, etc. We're supposed to be "in the world but not of it", but the problem is that many Christians are both not of the world and not in it as well. Could this be why 2/3rds of our children are turning their backs on Christ when they get to college? It may be a part of the equation.

Now I'm not going to fool myself into thinking I'm hip, but I'm going to do what I can to stay current on pop culture. Right now that pop culture includes a really fun and clean show called High School Musical. Ya'll should check it out!
